UL presents certification services at CWIEME
Underwriters Laboratories is introducing its certification services for the electrical industry at CWIEME (Coil Winding, Insulation and Electrical Manufacturing Exhibition and Conference).
CWIEME will take place in Berlin from 5-7 May 2009.
In addition to certification services, preliminary investigation, and customer-specific training programmes on certification regulations and test procedures, UL will also introduce its most extensive free databases, UL iQ for Plastics and UL iQ for Electrical Insulation Systems.
These databases for manufacturers of electrical products and insulation hold around 60,000 UL-certified plastics.
Certified products of UL customers are entered in the database, and the entries are then available to interested individuals through various search criteria, such as product and material descriptions, company name and UL rating.
Sander Nieuwenhuijzen of UL International Netherlands will present the UL 1446 - Electrical Insulation Systems test standard on 5 May at the parallel Inductica symposium.
For the North American market, appropriate tests of polymer materials that come into contact with coil windings in such products as motors, transformers and coils are a mandatory requirement for the UL 1446 standard.
