Unipower Telecom's new DSC1000 is a digital system controller for monitoring and controlling telecomms power systems.

Unipower Telecom's new DSC1000 is a digital system controller for monitoring and controlling telecomms power systems.

Occupying just 1U of rack space, the new controller features local or remote monitoring of 12, 24 or 48V power systems and is particularly suited for use with Unipower Telecom's Sigma, Radian and Ranger rectifiers.

Communication is via an Ethernet TCP/IP connection with optional SNMP (simple network management protocol).

The DSC1000 can control and supervise up to 128 rectifiers in 32 shelves using I2C data over a standard telephone cable with RJ11 connectors.

This allows the controller to measure and monitor a large number of system parameters including bus status, battery status, rectifier and load current, overvoltage, rectifier failure, AC power fail and battery overtemperature.

Users can also define up to six parameters of their choice.

The unit's front panel has an LCD matrix display, 16 LED indicators and an eight-key touchpad.

It can be programmed via the touchpad or by using any standard web browser which is Java enabled.

Other features include up to eight Form C relay alarms, battery temperature compensation, up to eight digital inputs for monitoring, and control of two low volt disconnects.
