Lightweight high-density switcher
Now available from Ultimate Renaissance are a range of highly efficient 60W AC/DC power supplies that provide power densities exceeding 7W/inch3 in a 50.8 x 101.6 x 20.3mm package.
Highest power density in class claim for switchers
New from UR (Ultimate Renaissance), EOS V-series switching power supplies pack up to 40W into a lightweight, open-frame unit occupying surface area similar to a regular business card.
Extra, advanced features support a wide range of applications for all PCIbus standards.
The PLX Technology PCI 6540 supports both transparent and true nontransparent operation, allowing a common module design to be used as a host or a peripheral in a system.
Special features include FlowThru architecture, which delivers powerful buffer management and configuration to facilitate PCI-X-to-PCI bridging.
Smart-Prefetch supports up to 2Kbyte data prefetch with store and forward services to secondary bus PCIbus based processors.
And Dynamic-Buffer-Management enhances PCI-X-to-PCI-X bridging.
It is available in a 380-pin BGA package measuring 27 x 27mm.
The PCI 6540 saves board space and power consumption, and supports PCI-X-to-PCI conversion, frequency conversions from a faster PCI-X to a slower PCI-X bus, address remapping, high availability hot swap, and universal system-to-system bridging.
Further features include 5V tolerance on I/Os and CompactPCI hot swap compliance, making the PCI 6540 suitable for high availability applications, including CPCI system slots or peripheral slots in telecom, Internet or networking applications.
There are also 16 general purpose I/Os for driving LEDs or identifying module configuration, as well as a 10Kbyte on-chip FIFO.
Secondary clock outputs are also provided to drive other PCI components on the module.
The device also supports up to eight bus masters.
The device is compliant with PCI 2.3 and PCI-X Rev 1.0a specifications, and supports all current PCIbus widths and speeds, including 32bit/33MHz, 64bit/66MHz and the latest 64bit/133MHz PCI-X.
This allows more devices to be attached to the widely used PCIbus, enables intelligent adapters for PCIbus applications, and allows PCIbuses of different speeds to become part of the same subsystem.
The PCI 6540 is available in the UK exclusively through Ultimate Renaissance, the sole distributor for the full PLX Technology product range.
