Highest power density in class claim for switchers
New from UR (Ultimate Renaissance), EOS V-series switching power supplies pack up to 40W into a lightweight, open-frame unit occupying surface area similar to a regular business card.
A development kit, the NET2280RDK, provides a quick and efficient way for designers to prototype PCI based USB devices using the NET2280 chip.
In addition, the NET2280RDK allows PCI Host mode capability for configuring other PCI chips.
USB firmware and APIs are provided to facilitate data transfers and system management.
The NET2280, from PLX Technology, is a USB 2.0 peripheral controller that integrates an 8051 CPU and 8Kbyte program memory on-chip to manage and accelerate PCI and USB configurations, with a four-channel DMA controller to minimise host CPU intervention and overhead.
Also integrated on-chip are an analogue USB 2.0 transceiver, serial interface engine (SIE), 4Kbyte bidirectional FIFO RAM array, PCI and USB configuration registers and 30MHz PLL.
The device is fully compliant with the 480Mbit/s USB 2.0 and PCI 32bit 33MHz version 2.2 specifications, with full PCIbus mastering including configuration cycles.
There is also support for USB 1.1 specifications, with automatic detection and full backwards compatibility.
The development kit contains a reference design board, full software for both host and device side as well as schematics, manuals and all cables.
It is priced at GBP 550.
Applications for the NET2280 include data acquisition, instrumentation, test and measurement, surveillance, video manipulation and network interfacing duties in industrial and medical, embedded systems and consumer and entertainment sectors, as well as PC peripherals, modems and home networking equipment.
It will also enable conversion adapters for industry-standard interfaces including PCI, CompactPCI, Mini PCI, PC Card, SCSI and 100Base-T.
