Unitek Eapro has developed a new series of TAB-Repair systems for LCD and plasma display panels.

Unitek Eapro has developed a new series of TAB-Repair systems for LCD and plasma display panels.

These TAB-Repair systems are designed for panel sizes from 6 to 60in.

The universal systems have been developed in co-operation with leading companies within the repair service industries.

Combining Unitek Eapro's knowledge on hot bar bonding with recent developments in the LCD/PD industry a series of pulsed- and constant heat systems are developed for medium to large series of TAB-repair requirements in a high mix of panel and TAB sizes.

The Emerald TAB-Repair systems are a series of modular build systems with the capability of handling many different sizes of LCD/PD panels.

Its design incorporates some novel features, such as: a separate loading/unloading position with manual panel movement and precise panel adjustment; and upwards looking cameras for fine pitch alignment and marker recognition even while the hot bar is on top of the bonding position.

The hot bar footprint/bonding position can easily be located through a downwards-looking camera in combination with a line generator.

To enable optimum operator visualisation for tracks and marker alignment, large 19in TFT screens are used.

There are no limitations to PCB sizes because of a floating flipper construction with fine adjustment in x-y-z and R directions.

Different force settings and temperature profiles can be preprogrammed through a motorised bonding head and a pulsed heat power supply (Uniflow).

The bonding head is mounted on a moveable arm to enable bonding to the ITO tracks on the glass as well as bonding to the PCB.

A separate stainless-steel support block on an adjustable slide is used for bonding the TAB to the PCB.

For bonding the TAB to the ITO tracks, a glass support block is mounted in a fixed position.

The Emerald Series are designed according to ESD and clean-room requirements, and are fully CE approved.

The Emerald 35 TAB-Repair system can handle panel sizes ranging from 6 to 35in.

Most TAB-repair applications need the three technologies ACF-tacking, ACF final bonding and hot-bar reflow soldering.

The Emerald 35 is a three-in-one system that can be used for all three technologies by using pulsed heat technology and a motorised bonding head.

Unitek Eapro also manufacturers a full range of desktop and stand-alone systems for hot bar bonding applications and dispensing systems for time/pressure and positive displacement dispensing applications.
