Lack of management skills is a criticism often levelled at engineers The University of Oxford is planning to help in at least one area with its "Effective project management for engineers, scientists and managers" course
The one-day course, on 4th June 2004, is intended to provide the skills needed to organise and manage R and D projects and also measure their performance.
Subjects covered include understanding project planning and using scheduling tools, and how to structure a project team for maximum efficiency.
And if things go wrong? The course will also show how to manage when the worst happens.
Dr Steve New, university lecturer in Management Studies at Oxford will be teaching the course.
