Processor models kick start ARM development

A Vast Systems Technology product story
Edited by the Electronicstalk editorial team Mar 6, 2006

High-performance high-accuracy PC-based software models are now available for the ARM1136, ARM1156 and ARM1176 processors.

Vast Systems Technology Corporation has developed high-performance high-accuracy software models of the ARM1136, ARM1156 and ARM1176 processors.

Virtual processor models are at the heart of the Vast virtual system prototype, a very high performance software simulation-based model of a system-on-chip (SoC).

Vast virtual system prototypes are used heavily in the wireless, consumer, telecom and automotive industries.

Vast virtual processor models (VPMs) are fast and cycle accurate, running at speeds of up to 200MIPS on off-the-shelf PCs.

A Vast VPM is cycle-, register- and timing-accurate, and configurable, providing an unprecedented ability to observe the behaviour of executing software and selected processor internal registers.

"The dominance of ARM processors in the wireless sector, coupled with Vast's growing customer base in wireless, has produced a large demand for Vast's virtual models of the ARM processor families".

"We expect to see continued growth in this area", said Alain Labat, Vast President and CEO.

In addition to the ARM7, ARM9 and ARM11 families of processors, Vast also has modelled a broad selection of other popular processors and DSPs including those from StarCore, MIPS, Renesas, NEC and Toshiba.
