Consolidation in the automotive industry has considerably narrowed the global competitive field - as a few key global car companies now control a large part of the industry.
The rapid convergence of telephony, broadcast media services and the Internet will drive the telecomms/datacomms industry, and continues to be one of the most significant trends in today's market.
According to Chris Lanfear, Director of VDC's Embedded Software Practice: "Device manufacturers and embedded developers continue to face financial and time to market pressures".
"As the diversity and complexity of embedded devices and the demands placed on development teams increase, developers are looking for commercial suppliers that can offer vertically oriented platforms from which to develop more advanced products".
