USB modem driver for Windows CE.NET
A new driver allows vendors to add USB modem capabilities to their Windows CE.NET-based products.
Vibren Technologies has developed a USB modem driver for use with Microsoft Windows CE.NET.
This new driver allows vendors to add USB modem capabilities to their Windows CE.NET-based products.
"For many vendors, the lack of native support of USB modems in Microsoft Windows CE.NET Platform Builder has been a source of frustration", said Dave LeClair Vice President of Technology at Vibren.
"Vibren's USB modem driver will allow vendors to fill this gap and add USB modem capabilities to their Windows CE.NET-based products".
The new driver package is hardware independent and works with both OHCI and UHCI USB host controllers via their standard Windows CE drivers.
Software can easily communicate with the USB modem as the modem driver creates a standard COM device.
In doing so, standard software such as terminal emulators and fax applications will work without modifications.
For the seamless integration of the driver into Windows CE.NET Platform Builder, the package features a Microsoft Self-Installer (MSI) file consistent with standards used in Windows CE.NET for adding third party components into Platform Builder.
The MSI includes the ACM class driver, registry settings and all other required components.
The modem driver package supports Windows CE.NET 4.2 and works with all processor families currently supported by Windows CE.NET, including x86, SHx, Xscale, ARM, MIPS, OHCI and UHCI USB controllers.
