VCAD (Vicor Configurable Automated Design) is a patented automated design tool that gives power designers flexibility and real-time control over the design and manufacture of power solutions.

Vicor has introduced VCAD (Vicor Configurable Automated Design), a patented automated design tool that gives power designers more flexibility and real-time control over the design and manufacture of their power solutions.

VCAD is a reflection of Vicor's initiative toward expert systems that facilitate and integrate design, ordering and manufacturing processes.

This major step toward true mass customisation facilitates a rapid response to unique applications by giving designers the ability to explore a variety of solutions that meet their unique electrical and mechanical requirements.

Furthermore, VCAD, in combination with a proprietary computer integrated manufacturing system, enables customers to enhance their time to market performance.

With VCAD, customers can choose from available input voltages, output configurations, thermal features and mechanical configurations and an optional power-up/power-down sequencing feature.

This allows the design of custom power solutions at standard lead times and standard prices.

VCAD is at the heart of Vicor's VIPAC family, a new type of power system that leverages the latest advances in 2nd generation DC/DC convertors and modular front-ends and incorporates a new partitioned power architecture.

Available in a variety of chassis styles, VIPAC combines specific power processing units and remotely located hold-up capacitors to provide fast, flexible, and highly reliable power solutions for a range of demanding applications.
