The high-boost VI-HAM harmonic attenuator module is a universal AC input, PFC front-end module optimised for use with Vicor's V375 series of DC/DC convertors.

A single high-boost VI-HAM may be used with any combination of V375 series DC/DC convertors (available in quarter-, half- and full-brick packages) up to 600W, resulting in a power conversion system with twice the power density, fewer components and lower cost compared with previous VI-HAM based solutions.

Parallelable versions are also available for applications requiring more than 600W of output power.

In addition, the high-boost VI-HAM is fully compatible with Vicor's VI-26x and VI-J6x series DC/DC convertors giving designers the freedom to choose from the industry's broadest selection of DC/DC convertors with outputs from 2 to 95V DC, at 50 to 600W.

The VI-HAM consists of a full-wave rectifier, a proprietary high-frequency zero-current switching (ZCS) boost convertor, and includes active inrush current limiting, overtemperature and short circuit protection, control and housekeeping circuitry.

The user needs only to provide external hold-up capacitors, a few components and Vicor's 07818 line filter.

Pricing for the high-boost VI-HAM modules is the same as for the existing VI-HAM family, as low as $0.17 per watt in quantities of 5000 (USA domestic price).
