"The VIA EPIA CL mainboard delivers throughput speeds above and beyond regular firewall products geared to small and medium sized businesses, as well as enabling smaller, quieter and more cost effective devices", said Roland Groeneveld, President, Logic Supply.
"We noticed that customers preferred using VIA EPIA Mini-ITX solutions for firewalling, so we developed the Perimeter range in response to the need for a more fully developed solution".
"With the versatile Perimeter firewalls, Logic Supply is catering to the more specialised flexibility, security and control needs of smaller companies, a market not well served by traditional networking suppliers", said Richard Brown, Vice President of Marketing, VIA Technologies.
"Our EPIA Mini-ITX mainboards are increasingly the hardware platform of choice for bringing the performance boost and software compatibility of the x86 architecture to the burgeoning server appliance market, and the Perimeter firewalls are an excellent application of the technology".
The Perimeter firewall range by Logic Supply is based on the VIA EPIA CL Mini-ITX mainboard and feature a bootable solid state drive as well as multiple network interfaces and system dimensions.
All firewalls run m0n0wall open source embedded firewall application that offers all the important features of commercial firewall boxes, including an intuitive web interface including SSL access, console access for recovery situations, flexible stateful packet filtering, LAN services including DHCP server and caching DNS forwarder, a wide range of WAN support, traffic shaping for maximum throughput and traffic prioritisation, SNMP agent, SVG- based graphical traffic monitoring, and support for static routes.
Firmware upgrades are available via the web interface, and backup and restore are fully configurable.
Ideal for basic firewalling to protect local area networks (LANs) from untrustworthy Internet hosts, the Perimeter B2 dual port configuration offers more sophisticated network problem solving between internal LANs.
Combining the space and power savings of the Mini-ITX form factor with the flexibility of m0n0wall, the Perimeter B2 contains the VIA EPIA CL6000 mainboard with its dual 10/100Mbit/s Fast Ethernet ports, 128Mbyte RAM and a 32Mbyte IDE-Flash memory within a smart black Morex chassis measuring 210 x 275 x 65mm.
Offering an extended lifetime and quiet operation afforded by completely fanless operation, the Perimeter F series firewalls offer greater performance and flexibility than comparable commercially available firewalls.
All based on the VIA EPIA CL6000 Mini-ITX mainboard and featuring 32Mbyte IDE-Flash memory, there are three options with different port configuration: the F2, F4, and F6, offering two, four, and six Fast Ethernet 10/100Mbit/s ports respectively.
The F2 model features the smart Serener chassis measuring 220 x 310 x 50mm, whereas the F4 and F6 utilise the expanded Serener chassis measuring 370 x 310 x 50mm.
The Perimeter R series rack-mount firewalls provide the performance and flexibility of m0n0wall and a full-featured x86 platform in a convenient rack-mountable form factor for professional network administrators.
The Perimeter R firewalls are ideally suited for securing small- and medium-sized networks that require superior flexibility and performance.
Like all of the Perimeter firewalls, the Perimeter R firewalls provide an exceptional performance-to-cost ratio.
The R2, R4, and R6 models offer two, four and six Fast Ethernet 10/100Mbit/s ports, respectively.
All models utilise the high quality Casetronic C159-ATX chassis measuring 482.6 x 44.45 x 254mm.
