Desktop processor makes low-cost PC more
frugal
Systemax Manufacturing has used the 1.5GHz VIA C7-D desktop processor in its new highly energy efficient PC for the US market.
Based on the low power VIA pc2500 mainboard, the Systemax PC features the VIA C7-D processor, with a maximum power of just 20W, and the VIA CN700 digital media chipset with the VIA UniChrome Pro II integrated graphics processor The Systemax PC bundles hardware and software and fully addresses the need to run high performance desktop applications while enabling US businesses, schools and homes to lower their electricity usage and therefore their power bills significantly

The new Systemax PC model is available in two SKUs, one with Microsoft Windows XP Home at US $299.99, and the other with Microsoft Windows XP Professional at $399.99.
The $299.99 SKU comes with Microsoft Windows XP Home, a 16x DVD ROM drive and a 90 day parts and labour warranty, and the second SKU with Microsoft Windows XP Professional provides a 52x32x52/16x combo drive and a one year parts and labour warranty for $399.99.
Designed from the ground up for reliable performance and low power consumption, the VIA pc2500 combines leading performance per watt with all the latest PC technologies, including DDR2 system memory, Serial ATA hard drive, and USB2.0 for 480Mbit/s connections to bandwidth-hungry peripherals.
The VIA UniChrome Pro II integrated graphics processor features hardware MPEG-2 video decoding acceleration for smooth DVD playback, multichannel audio and 128bit 2D and 3D graphics engines for an enhanced multimedia experience.
