Analyser family expands to cover CompactPCI

Designed for debugging, testing and validating next-generation platforms, the Vanguard products offer a state analyser, exerciser, statistics, protocol checker and compliance checker.

Vmetro Vanguard networked bus analysers are operated through Ethernet or USB from a PC with Windows running Vmetro's popular BusView for Windows software.

The addition of an Ethernet interface to a dedicated bus analyser is an industry first and transforms the way system buses are debugged.

Engineers now have the convenience of accessing any or multiple bus analysers on the network.

The Vanguard product range is based on a powerful reconfigurable hardware architecture that allows a common module to be used on multiple platforms and enables field upgrades, without sacrificing the ability to use all functions concurrently and independently.

This protects a customer's investment by providing additional functionality at a later stage.

The Vanguard CompactPCI offers both system slot and peripheral slot capabilities, as well as hot swap.

As a system slot controller, the Vanguard CompactPCI contains full arbiter and clock generation functionality.

The state analyser includes the industry's deepest trace memory at 2Msample, and each sample comprises 256bit of information.

Another first for the Vanguard is hardware-assisted demultiplexing of 64bit PCI-X/PCIbus traffic.

This greatly simplifies triggering, and coupled with the ability to collapse and expand the detail level of the trace, demultiplexing improves trace readability and productivity.

The Vanguard CompactPCI offers support for 0 to 133MHz PCI and PCI-X protocols in 3.3 and 5V signalling environments, all in one package.

The product is offered with an exerciser that fully supports master/target and requester/completer functions.

A compliance checker is also available to automatically verify compliance with the PCI and PCI-X standards.

The statistics engine generates preprogrammed real-time statistics for bus utilisation, transfer rate, command distribution, burst length distribution, arbiter latency among others.

In addition, the customer has the flexibility to define custom statistics.
