Speedy claims for data recorder

Vmetro has introduced what it claims is the industry's fastest stand-alone data recorder.

Vmetro has introduced what it claims is the industry's fastest stand-alone data recorder Marlin is a family of powerful, rack-mountable, PC-based data recorders designed to be easily integrated into data acquisition systems and is intended for high-performance applications such as those found in surveillance, signal intelligence, and telemetry as well as semiconductor and medical imaging systems

Unlike other solutions, Marlin uses flexible Fibre Channel SAN technology, allowing associated data recording environments to be easily expanded without performance degradation.

Marlin comprises Vmetro's SAN Access Software for Data Recording Environments, one or more high-performance input cards, offering support for a wide variety of inputs, and Fibre Channel output cards.

This combination of powerful hardware and a user-friendly software interface can record multiple high-bandwidth streams of data with an aggregate performance approaching 1Gbyte/s.

Marlin is compatible with all Vmetro's software and hardware recording products and shares the same common program interface used by other Vmetro data recorders, thus allowing for easy migration between associated applications.

Marlins can be clustered together for even higher performance.

Marlin provides an integrated and flexible platform for creating custom recording and reproduction applications.

This allows users to focus on the development of core intellectual property without having to develop special data recording hardware and software.

The result is faster time to market, reduced cost and superior product differentiation.

"Our customers are asking for high-bandwidth data recorders that can be quickly integrated into existing data acquisition systems", said Mark Pacelle, Vice President of Marketing at Sky Computers.

"We are working closely with Vmetro to integrate our new Smartpac systems with Vmetro's new data recorder". Request a free brochure from Vmetro ...
