Mezzanine cards handle analogue inputs
Vmetro is has developed a powerful range of analogue products for embedded computing applications.
Vmetro is has developed a powerful range of analogue products for embedded computing applications By closely coupling high-performance FPGA processing and analogue I/O, these products are ideal for applications requiring maximum performance with minimal latencies such as software defined radio (SDR), satellite communications, signal intelligence (sigint) and data recording

PMC module provides speedy acquisition
The DPIO2-66 is a third-generation parallel I/O PMC module aimed at high-performance data acquisition applications such as radar, sonar, intelligence systems and image capture and generation.
Recorder takes on huge bandwidth
The PowerMidas CP-MDR-620 data recorder uses a new dual-channel 2Gbit/s intelligent Fibre Channel adapter to deliver up to 240Mbyte/s sustained real-time recording and playback.
Products announced and becoming available in 2007 are: a PMC module with dual 105MHz 14bit ADC and Virtex-5 FPGA; a PMC module with dual 210MHz 14bit DAC and Virtex-5 FPGA; a PMC module with L-Band digital receiver and Virtex-5 FPGA; an XMC module with 3GHz A/D and Virtex-5 FPGA (not yet shipping); and an XMC module with dual 1.5GHz A/D and Virtex-5 FPGA (not yet shipping).
"Our customers need more than just analogue I/O, they need processing too, where it counts - at the front end".
"These products give them that".
"For example, the Virtex-5 FPGA can be used for digital down conversion, FFTs, AES encryption for secure applications or even custom algorithm development".
"The products enable leading performance and flexibility", says Dave Barker, Vice President at Vmetro.
"Vmetro has taken advantage of the parallel signal processing capabilities of the high-performance Xilinx Virtex-5 devices to deliver a leading-edge analogue I/O offering", said Per Holmberg, Director of Programmable Digital Solutions Marketing at Xilinx.
"Our low-power Virtex-5 devices combine this capability with integrated flexible signalling to enable an efficient high-speed DSP implementation in a small footprint".
Software support for these products includes host drivers for Windows and VxWorks.
Linux support is scheduled for the second half of 2007.
The drivers support high-speed DMA to minimise potential bottlenecks between the analogue stage, the FPGA and the host processor.
Utilities and example VHDL are provided to support customers' development of FPGA firmware as well as providing diagnostic support. Request a free brochure from Vmetro ...
