DC source promises reliable LCR
measurements
The small easy-to-use Voltech DC1000 is a DC current source that can be used alongside almost any manufacturer's LCR meter or impedance analyser without complex connection.
Power supply chokes and transformers that operate with a large DC bias current have their inductance measured in the presence of direct current during test Until now, design and test engineers have had to use cumbersome specialist DC bias supplies from the manufacturer of their chosen LCR meter

The small easy-to-use Voltech DC1000 is a DC current source that can be used alongside almost any manufacturer's LCR meter or impedance analyser without complex connection.
Unique electronic compensation circuits in the DC1000 automatically minimise the effect that the DC source has on LCR impedance measurements, and replace the less reliable switched inductor techniques found in conventional bias supplies.
The DC1000 provides up to 25A (250A for 10 units in parallel) of smoothed and precisely controlled current to bias the inductor core and simulate its operating condition.
Control is via the front panel rotary dial and operating switches, or remotely via RS232.
Software is available for automatic control of both the DC1000 and a variety of LCR meters, providing sweeps of impedance against frequency and bias.
In production test, the DC1000 can also be integrated seamlessly into Voltech's AT3600 and ATi high-speed test environment.
The DC1000 also features a bright, LED display of current, and simple output and remote indicating switches.
The DC1000 is fully protected against overtemperature and overvoltage at its inputs.
A safety interlock is provided to ensure operator safety against the risk of large back-EMF voltages from the part under test.
The DC1000 is available now in the UK and USA for US $5995.
