Flexible configuration for
battery-backed switcher
The Oracle III 200-9 battery-backed switch-mode power supply offers designers greater flexibility by providing one main output, one charger output and up to seven 35W auxiliary outputs.
The new Oracle III 200-9 battery-backed switch-mode power supply from VxI Power offers designers greater flexibility by providing one main output, one charger output and up to seven 35W auxiliary outputs Operating from an 85-264V AC autoranging input, the PSU is available in both 12 and 24V versions and features fan cooling as standard, enabling it to deliver 200W continuously at the maximum permissible ambient temperature of 70C, with a peak output capability of 300W

Battery-backed switcher takes Modbus onboard
The Oracle III 200 battery-backed switch-mode power supply features a built-in RS232/RS485 interface with full Modbus functionality, allowing it to be controlled or monitored from a remote location.
In the event of a mains failure, the backup battery supplies power to the load via an internal diode, thereby ensuring that the output is maintained without interruption.
Temperature compensation of the battery charger circuit extends all the way down to the minimum operating temperature of -20C, and a special version of the PSU with a lower limit of -40C is also available for extreme applications.
The unit is capable of charging Cyclon cells over the full temperature range and can also be configured for either two- or three-stage charging to reduce battery recharge times in cyclic applications.
The 200-9 features the standard Oracle III RS232/RS485 serial communications interface, with a choice of Modbus, Canbus, DeviceNet or IrDa protocols.
As well as enabling data to be downloaded to a PC, this facility makes it possible for users to input parameters such as battery type and battery test interval.
In addition, the serial interface allows the PSU to be integrated into a Scada system, if required.
Built-in protection circuitry guards against short-circuit overloads, current limits, reverse polarity and overvoltages, and an undervoltage lockout facility prevents damage to the battery when it is fully discharged.
The PSU incorporates volt-free relays and LEDs for monitoring system status, and these can be factory-configured to meet the user's specific requirements.
Compliant with the EN50081-1 and EN50082-2 standards for EMI emissions and immunity, the Oracle III 200-9 has overall dimensions of 203 x 185 x 70mm.
