Chargers integrate comprehensive protection

A VxI Power product story
Edited by the Electronicstalk editorial team Dec 2, 2005

The Morven BCM series comprises a range of rugged three-stage cyclic chargers for 12 and 24V lead-acid battery systems.

New from power supply manufacturer VxI Power is the Morven BCM series - a range of rugged three-stage cyclic chargers for 12 and 24V lead-acid battery systems.

Produced at VxI's manufacturing facility in Lincoln, the battery chargers have been designed to provide safe and rapid charging and are particularly suitable for industrial applications.

Very simple to operate, they feature automatic changeover from boost charge to float charge and incorporate an internal diode splitter that allows independent charging of up to three batteries.

Comprehensive protection circuitry guards the units against damage from reversed polarity, overtemperature, overvoltage, undervoltage and overcharging conditions.

The BCM series consists of three 12V models with charging currents of 15, 30 or 50A and four 24V models with charging currents of 8, 15, 25 or 50A.

Sizes range from 170 x 155 x 65 to 350 x 220 x 65mm.

All models operate from an input voltage of 180-270V AC, have an efficiency of greater than 80% at full load, and are designed for use in ambient temperatures ranging from -10 to +45C.

In addition to the standard range of products, VxI Power can also manufacture variants and specials to satisfy individual customer requirements.

RoHS-compliant Pb-free versions will be available soon.
