The Super Slim Pen is an ultrasmall, cordless and battery-less electronic pen measuring 3.5mm in diameter and weighing only 1g.

New from Wacom, the Super Slim Pen is an ultrasmall, cordless and battery-less electronic pen measuring 3.5mm in diameter and weighing only 1g.

Until now electronic pens had to be at least 5.5mm in diameter to accommodate the built-in circuitry, but by using its own Penabled technology, Wacom has been for the first time able to achieve the small form factor of the Super Slim Pen.

By making Wacom's electronic pen technology available in cartridge form, the Super Slim Pen reduces development times significantly and makes it simple for manufacturers to use ultrasmall electronic pens to manage the input and control of information for electronic devices.

The Super Slim Pen is targeted at manufacturers of next-generation handheld devices such as Smartphones, personal digital assistants (PDAs) and gaming.

In September of last year, Wacom announced its small pen sensor controller, the W8002 mixed signal IC, to allow the easy integration of Wacom's proven inductive pen sensing technology into mobile devices with a display less than 4.3in in size.

Using the precision of the Super Slim Pen, navigating menus in small electronic devices can be done naturally with the flight point - a feature that allows users to easily manipulate different applications and gives the ability to switch smoothly between them.

As the sensor that controls the Super Slim Pen is embedded behind the device display, it ensures the display is highly durable, achieves 100% luminous light transmission and eliminates colour wash out.

This makes it suitable for the requirements of mobile devices.

The Super Slim Pen is available immediately.
