Wacom's Penabled cordless, battery-free pen technology has been selected for the Lenovo ThinkPad X41 tablet - the first convertible tablet PC from the ThinkPad portfolio.

Starting at 1.6kg and 29mm thin, select models of the ThinkPad X41 tablet are nearly 20% lighter than its closest competitor.

A ThinkPad X41 tablet with an eight-cell battery delivers the longest standard battery life of any 12in convertible tablet.

Powered by Wacom's Penabled technology, convertible tablet PCs offer mobile professionals the choice of working in two ways - as a tablet with digital pen and, or as a traditional notebook PC.

When used as a tablet PC, digital ink is captured by the ThinkPad X41 tablet from the Wacom Penabled electronic pen.

Designed to create a natural and intuitive feel, the pen provides 256 levels of pressure-sensitivity, enabling more accurate input control so lines can be precisely drawn to required thicknesses depending on how hard the pen is pressed on the screen.

Mistakes are easily corrected with the pen's built-in eraser, also featuring 256 levels of pressure-sensitivity.

"The ThinkPad X41 tablet provides mobile professionals better control and flexibility to the way they work".

"The increased pressure-sensitivity of the pen gives users precise feedback and control over what they write and draw", said Masahiko Yamada, CEO, Wacom.

"Wacom's partnership with Lenovo is a significant step in the expansion of our services to customers around the world, and we are excited about this new relationship".

With advanced features that enable new interface functions such as application zooming and flight point, the Wacom Penabled electronic pen also allows users to easily manipulate different applications and the ability to switch smoothly between them.

As the sensor that controls the pen is embedded behind the display, it ensures the display is more durable, achieves 100% luminous light transmission and eliminates colour wash out.
