Wadsworth Electronics has signed an exclusive distribution agreement with LaserBit Communications Corporation, a developer and manufacturer of laser-based, free space optical (FSO) telecommunications equipment.

The distribution agreement focuses initially on the Pico E100 new compact laser system, but it includes the complete LaserBit product line.

Garry Harrington, Regional Director UK and Ireland for LaserBit Communications says: "We are very excited about this agreement.

Wadsworth's reputation and company strength make them a natural partner for LaserBit and the perfect fulfilment of our indirect channel strategy in the UK and Ireland market places".

The LaserBit Pico E100 is an innovative new product incorporating a lightweight and compact mechanical design and factory adjusted "one lens" optic system, allowing users to benefit from a simple and quick installation and operates within factory-set distances from 0 to 150m.

The Pico E100 system operates in 100BaseT mode and requires only 110/240V AC power and a TP connection from the adjacent hub or switch.

With more than a decade of research and development, LaserBit's free space optical laser links are capable of wireless error-free transmission of voice, data and video point to point for distances up to 5km with nearly 5x9s of availability over most installation environments.
