Network infrastructure key to office refurbishment
When the Family Housing Group decided to condense the majority of its operations under one roof by moving to new premises, it quickly realised the need for a new network infrastructure.
When the Family Housing Group decided to condense the majority of its operations under one roof by moving to new premises, it quickly realised the need for a new network infrastructure.
P and Pi was quick to respond to their needs and proposed a cost effective solution, using data and voice cabling from the Wadsworth Quantum range in order to refurbish the Family Housing Group's new offices in Queen Elizabeth Street, Central London.
The Family Housing Group provides quality and affordable accommodation and services for around 30,000 Londoners.
Being able to meet the changing needs of people in the capital is a key factor in the group's success.
The move to the new premises has enabled the group to bring a number of its different departments together in one building and provide it with a more central location within the City.
P and Pi was awarded the contract to replace the existing cabling, which was unsuitable for the group's requirements, following a competitive tender with four other companies.
P and Pi's proposal covered their client's two main criteria, for the solution to be cost effective whilst being flexible enough to allow a smooth migration of staff to the new premises.
Over 1400 Category 5e UTP outlets were installed in a phased project, to suite the customer's timescale and requirements.
"We needed to provide our customer with a quality product within a tight timescale and still meet their budget, the Quantum range of products from Wadsworth facilitated this requirement", comments Keith Dodd of P and Pi.
"With the Group needing to move staff in to some areas immediately, we had to accommodate a live network alongside the remaining refurbishment work.
It was therefore essential that we maintained a high level of project management to ensure a smooth migration for the client".
P and Pi's integrated skills, coupled with Wadsworth's distribution capabilities, allowed the Family Housing Group to achieve its requirements within budget and on schedule.
"I was very impressed with P and Pi", comments Robbie Stokes, IT Manager, Family Housing Group.
"They provided an extremely detailed and competitive quotation and worked well, especially with our existing equipment such as the cabinets.
They proved very flexible in their work and have done a very professional job".
