By developing its insulation displacement connection technology Weidmuller's new IDC2 terminal range has introduced faster installation in an even more compact rail-mounted terminal As well as up to 60% savings in installation time, through eliminating cable stripping, the new configurations mean the terminal is only 5mm in thickness and even the four connection unit is only 93mm long

In Weidmuller's IDC2 development, refinements to the tensioned contact and a new pre-cutting unit mean even more effective, gas-tight connections can be made.

By just inserting the unstripped cable and closing the clamping slider with a screwdriver, the cable insulation is penetrated and the tensioned stainless steel spring drives the tin-plated copper busbar to make a contact.

IDC2 is designed for conductors between 0.21 and 1.5mm2 (1mm2 tri-rated), and is 1mm slimmer than any comparable terminal on the market.

The Weidmuller IDC2 range's comprehensive set of options covers most common installation requirements.

It comprises feedthrough and PE terminals in two-, three- and four-connection units, with options including double, disconnect, fuse and initiator/actuator terminals.

The IDC2 range is fully crossconnectable, using ZQV crossconnects, including to the ZE16 power supply tension clamp terminal.

Hybrid terminals with IDC2/screw clamp and IDC2 spring clamp version are also available, and numerous accessories including test plugs, markers and end plates.
