Stable low-value resistors make good sense
New ultra-low-resistance surface-mount metal strip resistors are capable of handling up to 45A at 1W while exhibiting extremely low inductance and low TCR.
Welwyn Components has introduced an ultra-low-resistance (less than 2mohm) surface-mount metal strip resistor capable of handling up to 45A at 1W while exhibiting extremely low inductance and low TCR.
The CSS Series is offered in a two-terminal design and a four-terminal Kelvin design with a resistance range from 0.5 to 2mohm.
The new resistors will find uses in applications requiring precision current sensing, battery charging, power management circuits in computers, overcurrent protection in power supplies and motor control circuitry where current-sense devices are used.
Rated for a full 1W at 70C, the CSS Series resistors come with tolerances of 1, 3 and 5%, with TCRs as low as +/-20ppm/C.
They are rated for operation from -40 to +125C.
Extremely low inductance values of less than 0.1nH at 100 and 300kHz and continued stability beyond 300MHz make the CSS Series ideal for high speed computer power supply applications.
John Graham, Marketing and Sales Director at TT Electronics Welwyn Components, said: "We have identified a tremendous demand for stable low value sense resistors in the computer marketplace".
"As the need for higher speed processors and mobile computing increases, the drive toward lower resistance values increases".
"Our customer-driven product design is focused on stability and versatility demanded by the marketplace".
"The CSS Series provides the most superior TCR rating and inductance in the market today".
