Welwyn Components will invest Eur 1.2 million in thick- and thin-film research and development over the next three years.

Bedlington-based electronic components manufacturer, TT Electronics Welwyn Components has announced its intention to invest Eur 1.2 million in thick-film and thin-film technologies research and development over the next three years Thick-film and thin-film technologies are processes of manufacture for resistors and other components suitable for the automotive, consumer, civil aerospace, medical, telecomms and military markets

The products are used in a variety of applications including electronic steering, braking systems, wind turbines and jet engine controls, where the robust nature of Thick-film and thin-film technology and their ability to withstand high temperatures, make them suitable for harsh, high temperature environments that require precision technology.

As today's engineers demand higher tolerance and increased reliability from resistor and hybrid products, investment in the latest technologies is essential if Welwyn TT is to remain a competitive market leader.

Geoff Thompson, Microelectronics Business Unit Director at Welwyn TT, commented: "Welwyn's material scientists are now actively researching and developing thick-film and thin-film technologies for a wide range of new applications and markets".

"This investment will enable us to continue to be competitive and ensure that we are able to meet the performance demands of our customer's applications". Request free introductory details about products from TT Electronics Welwyn Components ...
