Tiny resistors handle up to 3kV
The Welwyn Components HVC series of high-voltage chip resistors offers compact sized resistors rated for continuous voltages up to 3kV.
Surface mount resistors take on new tasks
Welwyn Components is finding specialist new applications for its ranges of standard and custom surface mount resistors.
Described as a "super-efficient airplane", the Dreamliner series is a family of medium-sised aircraft capable of travelling long-haul journeys with increased fuel efficiency, resulting in exceptional environmental performance.
The aircraft will use 20% less fuel in comparison to similar journeys in today's medium-sized aircraft.
The key to this outstanding performance is the introduction of new technologies, which includes 420 TT Welwyn microcircuits and custom resistors in every Dreamliner produced.
Each Welwyn component used in the aircraft has been custom designed for its specific application including the Rolls Royce Trent 1000 engine management system, wing ice protection system and aircraft braking system.
The contract further strengthens TT Welwyn's global track record as a leader in the hybrid microelectronics and resistor sector and reinforces the company's position as a major player within the commercial avionics and military markets.
Business Unit Director, Geoff Thompson says: "The Dreamliner contract is further proof that Welwyn's engineering and technical expertise is second to none in the avionics field".
"Faced with the challenge of developing custom microelectronics that combine a smaller footprint, along with advanced capabilities for very specific applications critical to the safety of the aircraft, such as the aircraft wing ice protection system, we produced exceptional results working alongside an international team of top aerospace companies".
To date 45 airlines have confirmed orders totalling 584 aircraft. Request free introductory details about products from TT Electronics Welwyn Components ...
