Speedy online access to board support packages
System developers can now download board support packages direct from Wind River's BSP website.
System developers can now download board support packages direct from Wind River's BSP website.
Previously, only general information on the BSPs was available, and the user was required to download the BSP elsewhere.
Wind River's BSP website now provides developers with access to downloads of both Wind River BSPs and partner BSPs, making it the broadest set of BSPs available in the embedded industry.
"Wind River's board support package resource adds real value to developers looking to increase efficiencies in developing on Wind River's operating system and Motorola microprocessors", said Chuck Corley, Director of Applications Engineering for Motorola's Computing Platforms Division.
"This is exactly the kind of resource that drives value for our end customers who benefit from an immediate compression of development schedules due to the up-front OS and microprocessor integration that is fully supported by Motorola and Wind River".
Board support packages will now be available as part of Wind River's subscription licensing model, meaning that Wind River's subscription customers will be able to download all the latest BSPs at no additional charge.
Wind River will make new BSP downloads available within one day of completing their validation and testing.
The new, rapid BSP distribution addresses the developer's ever-present needs to cut costs and to accelerate time to market by reducing the development cycle.
Additionally, new BSPs will be made available on a regular basis, in line with Wind River's subscription model, which promises new and improved technology year over year.
"With the addition of this new functionality, Wind River's BSP site has become not only an online resource for developers, but rather a one-stop-shop for the developer's BSP needs", said Robert McCammon, Director of Core Operating Systems and Tools Marketing for Wind River.
"Wind River is committed to constantly improving both product and process, and through these enhancements, we've taken another step forward in reducing complexity in the development process and helping compress the customer's development cycle by providing easily accessible solutions to their development challenges".
Wind River's BSP website was originally launched in December 2002, and has seen 100% increase in website hits in the past four months as more and more developers reap the benefits of this resource.
