IDE takes ScopeTools onboard

A Wind River Systems product story
Edited by the Electronicstalk editorial team Mar 30, 2004

Wind River Systems is to extend its partnership with Real Time Innovations by integrating RTI ScopeTools with its new integrated development environment (IDE), the Wind River Workbench, previously known as Wind Power IDE 2.

The combination of Wind River Workbench and RTI's dynamic debugging and data visualisation tools will enable project teams to develop device software faster, better, at a lower cost and more reliably across both Linux and VxWorks, the industry leading operating systems for device software.

"With Wind River's embrace of Linux, the company is able to leverage its expansive partner ecosystem to offer solutions that support both Linux and VxWorks", said Bill Claybrook, Vice President of Linux Strategy at Harvard Research Group.

"The inclusion of RTI ScopeTools in the Wind River Workbench will provide developers using Linux or VxWorks with a rich multidimensional capability to understand software and systems activity, improving the predictability and efficiency of device software development".

The RTI ScopeTools enable developers to optimise device software by providing increased visibility into an application's dynamic data, memory use and performance.

RTI ScopeTools are the perfect complement to the Wind River Workbench.

Together they provide extensive visibility into program code and system level activity for Linux or VxWorks.

By integrating these technological capabilities into a single IDE, the Wind River Workbench developers will have new insight into software and system behaviour to uncover and correct problems much more quickly and efficiently.

In addition, the integration of RTI ScopeTools with the Wind River Workbench marks the first significant instance of the tool-to-tool integration using the company's Eclipse-based IDE.

Wind River Workbench, an open, standards based, device software development environment, provides deep functionality for every development task as well as support for the leading target processors, target operating systems and development hosts.

As a result, Wind River Workbench is a vehicle for improving developer productivity, project team collaboration and organisational capability.

"The Wind River Workbench provides industry-leading capabilities for both VxWorks and Linux developers.

We are proud to extend our partnership and integrate RTI ScopeTools with Wind River's next-generation IDE", said Stan Schneider, CEO of RTI.

"RTI and Wind River have a long history of working together.

Our products enable our joint customers to shorten development cycles and ensure higher-quality end products.

We look forward to continued collaboration with a most valued partner - Wind River".

"Our Wind River Workbench provides a powerful solution for standardising development across multiple operating systems and we believe that the integration of RTI ScopeTools makes it an even more compelling solution for customers", said Dave Fraser, Chief Marketing Officer for Wind River.
