A new trade-in programme aims to appeal to device manufacturers currently shipping devices running MontaVista Linux products.

Wind River Systems has instigated a new trade-in programme for device manufacturers currently shipping devices running MontaVista Linux products.

The Wind River MontaVista Trade-In Programme offers a safe migration strategy for companies that commit to developing their next project on a Wind River device software platform.

By opting into the new programme, MontaVista Software customers have a safe migration path to the device software industry's leading commercial grade Linux platforms including access to Wind River's world-class support and professional services.

"Wind River's trade-in programme gives MontaVista's customers a bullet-proof way to bring their current projects onto the device software industry's only commercial grade Linux platform", said John Bruggeman, Chief Marketing Officer, Wind River.

The Wind River MontaVista Trade-In Programme provides a safe migration strategy for device manufacturers transitioning to Wind River Commercial Grade Linux offerings from MontaVista Linux products.

As a key component of the programme, Wind River will offer support to qualified MontaVista customers in the process of deploying a Wind River Linux platform, including access to Wind River's worldwide support organisation for the standard MontaVista kernel on currently shipping devices throughout the duration of their transition period.

Customers opting into the programme will also have access to Wind River's world-class professional services organisation that can help them extend the capabilities of their project team.

A free evaluation version of Wind River General Purpose Platform, Linux Edition 1.2 is now available from Wind River's product evaluation website.
