RTOS is certified for safety-critical design
SafeRTOS is a portable, miniature, pre-emptive IEC61508 SIL 3 compliant real-time kernel that is designed to be small, simple and easy to use.
SafeRTOS is an IEC61508 Safety Integrity Level (SIL) 3 compliant small footprint real time kernel from Wittenstein high integrity systems.
SafeRTOS is a portable, miniature, pre-emptive real-time kernel that is designed to be small, simple and easy to use.
The portable code structure is predominantly written in C and places no software restriction on the number of tasks or priorities that can be used.
Queues and semaphores are used for communication and synchronisation between tasks, or between tasks and interrupts.
SafeRTOS was developed using Wittenstein high integrity systems' ISO9001:2000-accredited system development procedures, crossreferenced to an IEC61508 compliance matrix.
It greatly expedites the user's own route to certification through the provision of full certification evidence, including: compiler qualification evidence; a fully traceable requirements database; a comprehensive test suite; all development artefacts under strict configuration and change management control; documented safety case and integration and usage safety manual.
IEC61508 is an international standard for electrical, electronic and programmable electronic safety related systems.
It categorises safety related systems in accordance with a Safety Integrity Level (SIL), with SIL 4 being the maximum.
The SafeRTOS development process is compliant with that required for SIL 3 applications - the highest obtainable for software-only components.
