Cost-effective, full CMOS solution offers an over-the-air, 480Mbit/s link across all 12 WiMedia channels.

Set to make its debut on Booth 13544 at International CES in Las Vegas, 8th to 11th January 2007, the world's first universal ultrawideband (UWB) solution for computers and consumer electronics, handheld and handset devices has been introduced by WiLinx Corp This cost-effective, full CMOS solution offers an over-the-air, 480Mbit/s link across all 12 WiMedia channels

WiLinx is an early stage company whose stated mission is to deliver cost effective wireless modules featuring high performance, innovative architectures and circuits using low cost CMOS technologies.

The team at WiLinx consists of world-class wireless and computing industry experts, including RF CMOS innovators from the Integrated Circuits and Systems Laboratory (ICSL) at UCLA.

This "brains trust" possesses knowledge accumulated during a decade of successfully developing integrated circuits and systems using economical "plain vanilla" CMOS processes.

According to Brian O'Rourke, Senior Analyst at In-Stat: "WiLinx has a truly universal ultrawideband solution that can meet the needs of PC, PC peripheral and consumer electronics vendors, as well as makers of handheld and handset devices".

WiLinx' patented True UWB technology offers universal operation whereby the PHY can optimally adapt to worldwide spectrum regulations to offer highest achievable performance in each geographic region.

In addition, the technology is capable of delivering 2x range increase with no drop in datarate, or 3x datarate increase with no range degradation.

According to Dr Mahmoud D Zadeh, Vice President of Strategy and Business Development: "The results our first customer have seen so far demonstrate that our technology will make a major impact in the PC, CE, handheld and handset markets".

"And we believe that the combined strength of this technology as well as the experience of our management team will enable our customers to fully exploit the Universal Integrated WUSB and BT 3.0 market in timely and successful manner".
