Handset tester extends to wideband CDMA

A Willtek Communications product story
Edited by the Electronicstalk editorial team Dec 8, 2004

Willtek Communications has developed new test software for wideband CDMA wireless terminals.

Willtek Communications has developed new test software for wideband CDMA wireless terminals.

The 4467 WCDMA/UMTS Call Mode Option for the Willtek 4400 mobile phone tester series allows service centres and manufacturing plants to carry out the final test on wideband CDMA wireless terminals, ensuring that they are fully operational when leaving the factory or repair station.

The new option complements the capabilities of the 4466 WCDMA/UMTS Non-Call Mode Option which is already being used in service centres and manufacturing lines for circuit testing and alignment.

The 4400 mobile phone tester series provides these customers with additional capabilities for incoming inspection and final tests.

"With the advent of UMTS phones with enhanced capabilities such as video calls and push-to-talk services, Willtek expects a growing demand for wireless terminals supporting wideband CDMA", says Cyrille Damany, CEO of Willtek Communications.

Damany continues: "This trend results in an increasing number of production lines and a rising demand for test and repair services".

"With the 4400 Series, Willtek provides up to date features for its growing customer base in service and manufacturing".

The 4400 is Willtek's preferred tester for evolving technologies because it is a future-proof platform for mobile testing.

System options for GSM, GPRS, Edge, wideband CDMA, TD-SCDMA, cdmaOne and 1xRTT can be installed on a single 4400 as hardware or software options, and the instrument is prepared for future extensions such as HSDPA.

Measurements that both the 4466 WCDMA/UMTS Non-Call Mode Option and the 4467 WCDMA/UMTS Call Mode Option support include, power, modulation quality, and various spectrum measurements.

The WCDMA/UMTS Call Mode Option also includes receiver measurements to ensure the quality of the radio receive path of the wireless terminal.

The 4400 supports standard measurements as required by the UMTS specifications; developed in cooperation with major manufacturers, Willtek ensures that the 4400 meets the demand of service centres and manufacturing lines by including vendor-specific tests.
