Handheld spectrum analyser can now operate at frequencies up to 7.5GHz, supporting new applications in the microwave range.

The Willtek 9102 handheld spectrum analyser can now operate at frequencies up to 7.5GHz, supporting new applications in the microwave range This new feature is an option to the 9102 which so far covered the range from 100kHz to 4GHz

The 9102 with the new frequency extension is immediately available.

Says Matthias Weber, Director of Product Marketing at Willtek Communications: "The standard 9102 already is a top instrument in its class of hand-portable spectrum analysers and the 7.5GHz version has a superb price-performance ratio".

Weber explains: "The extraordinary frequency range and the large and bright display are the most important features of the 9102".

"As with the design of other Willtek instruments, we attached importance to the ease of use".

"Our aim it to support engineers and technicians with a user interface that lets them solve the task at hand, rather than posing new challenges with the operation of the instrument".

Applications covered by the 9102 handheld spectrum analyser with the 7.5GHz frequency extension include aviation signals, directional radio, VSAT (very small aperture terminal), and signals in the 5GHz unlicensed band, such as wireless LAN (WLAN) and WiMAX.

RFID signals are best analysed in the zero-span mode provided by the spectrum analyser.

Willtek's 9102 also supports a wide range of applications with accessories for cable fault finding, EMC and radiation measurements and fault finding in 3G mobile phones.

Most 9102 spectrum analysers already in the field can even be retrofitted with the new frequency extension.

Such an upgrade adds value and can significantly increase the lifetime of the 9102 as it expands the range of possible applications.

Willtek is constantly extending the range of applications of the 9102.

In addition to the frequency extension, Willtek has also introduced an insertion power sensor for broadband power measurements at up to 50W.

Coverage, EMC and radiation measurements can now be recorded with the exact position using the 9168 GPS receiver option, a computer-mouse-like device that can be attached to the 9102.
