The PCM-MIO is a high-density analogue and digital I/O card that operates from -40 to +85C.

New from Winsystems, the PCM-MIO is a high-density analogue and digital I/O card that operates from -40 to +85C This PC/104-compliant card includes a 16-channel, 12bit analogue-to-digital (A/D) convertor, eight-channel, 12bit digital-to-analogue (D/A) convertor, and 48 lines of digital I/O

Its design is novel in that it requires no trimpots for calibration of the analogue circuitry to remain within its specifications.

The absence of onboard potentiometers to adjust results in quick and easy setup of analogue systems needing accurate digitally controlled voltages.

This also eliminates the need for a technician or field engineer to readjust or recalibrate the unit which saves both time and money.

The PCM-MIO is supplied with free drivers for Linux, Windows CE and Windows XP Embedded, and ROM-DOS.

The analogue section of the board has been carefully designed with ultra low noise power supplies and a low drift voltage reference which is critical for accurate measurements up to 16bit resolution.

Special layout techniques and low drift resistor networks are also used to maintain the precision, accuracy, and long-term stability of this board.

There are no missing codes and the measurements are monotonic over the full temperature range from -40 to +85C.

The input ranges are 0-5, +/-5, 0-10 and +/-10V.

The board will support up to 16 single-ended or eight differential channels or various combinations of both.

It is available with either 12 or 16bit A/D convertors.

Eight independent, 12bit D/A convertors are also on the board.

The output voltage ranges are 0-5, 0-10, +/-5 and +/-10V.

Winsystems' PCM-MIO is compatible with isolated signal conditioners that will protect, filter and isolate the analogue input and output signals from electrical transients.

There are many models available from third-party vendors to interface to a wide variety of voltage, current, temperature, position and other analogue based instrumentation.

There are 48 lines of digital I/O individually programmable for input, output, or output with readback.

The lines are TTL-compatible and can source and sink 12mA which allow them direct connection to industry-standard, optically isolated AC and DC signal conditioners.

The PCM-MIO measures 90 x 96mm and is PC/104 compliant.

List price for the PCM-MIO-12 is $395 and delivery is stock to 3 weeks.
