Stereo DAC finds high-end design niche
Onkyo is using the WM8740 stereo DAC in its new range of high end CD players and AV receivers.
Onkyo has selected the Wolfson WM8740 stereo DAC for use in its new range of high end CD players and AV receivers.
Wolfson's high performance DAC provides Onkyo's customers with excellent audio performance in the C-777, DTX-10, TX-NA1000 and C-1VL systems.
"Our customers expect the best possible audio output from their AV equipment", commented Onkyo.
"When designing this new range of products we needed a supplier that could achieve outstanding audio clarity".
"In our opinion, the Wolfson device delivers the best pure audio output available on the market today".
"The WM8740 is the ideal product for high end personal and professional AV equipment such as home theatre systems, CD and Hi-Fi", remarked Julian Hayes, VP of Marketing at Wolfson.
"This high performance stereo DAC uses Wolfson's unique multibit DAC architecture to deliver the performance benefits required by high end audio equipment".
In addition to 16 to 24bit data input word lengths and 192kHz sampling rates, the WM8740 from Wolfson also features a serial interface port, digital interpolation filter, multibit sigma delta modulator and stereo DAC encapsulated in a small 28-pin SSOP package.
Further, the WM8740 also includes a digitally controllable mute and attenuator function on each channel and the internal digital filter can be bypassed and used with an external digital filter.
