Wolfson Microelectronics has been named as the winner of the best technology award for 2005 at the PLC Awards in London.

Wolfson Microelectronics has been named as the winner of the best technology award for 2005 at the PLC Awards in London.

The award is sponsored by SJ Berwin, and is given to a company whose business growth and success are attributable to exceptional technology innovation.

After the award ceremony, George Elliott, CFO at Wolfson said: "It is a privilege to receive an award that underlines our technology achievements and innovation".

"This award follows another year of outstanding growth and development at Wolfson, and is a testament to the enthusiasm of all our staff members".

"I am delighted to accept it on their behalf".

Announcing the award, newsreader Penny Smith reported: "Wolfson won the new company of the year award two years ago and continues to go from strength to strength".

The PLC Awards event was founded in 1987 and has gone on to become "the" City event of the year.

It is attended by over 1500 guests, including quoted companies, investment banks, fund managers, investment analysts and corporate advisers.
