Edited by the Electronicstalk editorial team Apr 24, 2006

Wolfson Microelectronics has relocated its Swindon design centre to larger premises.

Wolfson Microelectronics has relocated its Swindon design centre to larger premises.

The new location is designed to give greater scope for expansion and will allow the company to develop its R and D capabilities by employing more staff there in the future.

Wolfson opened the Swindon design centre early in 2004 to tap into the significant pool of electronic design engineering expertise available in the Thames Valley and Bristol vicinity.

Its new site in the Delta Business Park will house its current team of 13 engineers, whilst allowing adequate space for expansion.

Opening the new office, David Milne, CEO at Wolfson commented: "Innovation has always been at the heart of Wolfson's success".

"During 2005 we increased our R and D spend to $21 million, to address the progressively expanding digital consumer device market".

"The development team here in Swindon, together with the team in Edinburgh, are essential to our plans for developing the high quality audio and imaging devices with increased functionality that the market demands".

He added: "The extra space that this new location gives us will enable us to attract people with the high quality engineering and design skills that are vital to Wolfson's continued success in the marketplace".
