Lord Lieutenant presents Queen's Award
Wolfson Microelectronics has been formally presented with the Queen's Award for Enterprise by the Rt Hon Lesley Hinds, Lord Lieutenant and Lord Provost of the City of Edinburgh.
Wolfson Microelectronics has been formally presented with the Queen's Award for Enterprise in the Innovation category, by the Rt Hon Lesley Hinds, Lord Lieutenant and Lord Provost of the City of Edinburgh The award was made specifically for the cutting edge technology in the Wolfson WM9713L, a highly integrated audio semiconductor device for advanced multimedia mobile phones

The Innovation award is given to businesses who can "demonstrate substantial improvement in business performance and commercial success, through outstanding innovation, sustained over not less than two years, or continuous innovation and development, sustained over not less than five years".
The WM9713L was introduced by Wolfson in 2004 and is used to provide hi-fi audio and touchscreen functionality in mobile phones, PDAs, and other portable digital electronic devices.
This is the second Queen's Award which Wolfson has won, with the previous one being the Queen's Award for International Trade in 2004.
This was presented to the company for demonstrating substantial growth in overseas earnings and commercial success.
