Lenovo has chosen Wolfson Microelectronics audio technology for the latest handsets in its fast-growing mobile phone portfolio.

Lenovo, China's largest domestic mobile phone and leading computer manufacturer, has chosen Wolfson Microelectronics audio technology for the latest handsets in its fast-growing mobile phone portfolio.

According to Lenovo: "Wolfson's high performance, low power audio devices are helping us to reach our strategic goal of creating a world-class mobile phone brand".

"Working with Wolfson, we have been able to incorporate hi-fi audio technology whilst extending battery life, so that we can offer the features, performance and price required by our vast domestic market".

Already ranked as the number four mobile phone supplier to China, Lenovo has a goal to attain 10% of the domestic market there in 2006.

Recently introduced models range from low-cost music phones to fully featured multimedia handsets with MP3 and MP4 players, 2Mpixel cameras and embedded Microsoft Windows Mobile operating systems.

Wolfson is supporting Lenovo with stereo codecs specifically designed with integrated features for portable applications.

Wolfson low power technology contributes to extended battery life, and other features such as integrated headphone or speaker drivers not only make it easier for Lenovo to design in the Wolfson solutions, but also lower the part count, enhance reliability and reduce product weight and space requirements.
