PCI card is digital surveillance system

A Wordsworth Technology product story

The IVC-200G video capture PCI card provides a real-time video monitoring capability that is an ideal basis from which to build a digital surveillance system.

The IVC-200G video capture PCI card provides a real-time video monitoring capability that is an ideal basis from which to build a digital surveillance system.

Up to 30 frames per second of Pal, NTSC or Secam video can be supported on the IVC-200G, which includes four Conexant Fusion 878 chips on board.

The card is available with an optional GPIO module.

Interestingly, the board allows the surveillance area to be expanded with no extra reconfiguration of the DVR system.

As long as extension slots are available to accommodate further cards, it is easy to add more 'eyes' to the system as they are needed.

Furthermore, an LED on each IVC-200G card allows a unique number to be assigned by the DVR system manager, with which to associate the surveillance area.

Such a scheme makes it easier, should something go wrong in a specific area, to identify the problem and simply replace the card.

A GPIO connector allows users to connect an external I/O device such as a sensor, light, alarm or switch.

It is possible to control external devices via the GPIO interface, such as the spotlight over a doorway, whenever a motion detector is triggered.

The IC-200G can accept four video inputs via a BNC connector while the GPIO module also has four inputs and output.

Multiple video resolutions are possible, from 176 x 112 up to 720 x 480, for NTSC, and 176 x 144 up to 720 x 480 for Pal.

The maximum capture frame rate of the IVC-200G is 120 frames per second, for four channels.

Other video handling features include loss detection, multiscreen support, and adjustment of resolution, brightness, contrast and saturation.

The IVC-200G measures 120.19 x 100mm and consumes 5W at 5V.

Windows development drivers and a software development kit are available to application developers.
