SBC takes on complex video applications
The Nova-7800 is a low-power SBC equipped to meet sophisticated video handling requirements in applications such as home security systems, transport and factory monitoring.
The Nova-7800 is a low-power SBC equipped to meet sophisticated video handling requirements in applications such as home security systems, transport and factory monitoring.
The board features a 133MHz Mobile Intel Pentium III socket and support for up to 512Mbyte of PC100/PC133 SDRAM (via a single DIMM socket).
A comprehensive suite of video capture elements is featured on the Nova-7800, which can handle 30 frames per second of NTSC/Pal/Secam video.
Four AV inputs, or one S-video input, are available, with processing handled via a Conexant Fusion 878A chip.
Two IEEE1394A interfaces are featured, with support from TI's TSB43AB22 link layer controller, providing a means to import audiovisual data from devices such as camcorders, scanners, notebook PCs and hard disk drives.
On the display side, the Nova-7800 incorporates an 815E chipset, alongside four AGP slots.
Resolutions of up to UXGA level (1600 x 1200 pixels) can be supported.
The board operates with a VRAM shared memory architecture and is also equipped with a DB-15 CRT connector.
An optional LCD/VGA/TV controller combines a Trident CyberBlade XP device with 32Mbyte of SDRAM.
An advanced CyberBlade dual pixel, single pass 3D and 2D rendering engine is also a feature of this controller, as is a 36bit LCD panel interface.
Both Pal and NTSC TV outputs are available.
C-Media hardware and a 6W amplifier provide support for 5.1 channel sound.
I/O provision includes: a 10/100Mbit/s Ethernet controller, a CompactFlash Type II socket, PCMCIA Cardbus interface support and two RS232 serial ports.
A single 32bit PCI expansion slot is available.
The Nova-7800 draws 4A when operating from a 5V supply, and 0.2A with a 12V supply (assuming deployment of a 1.2GHz CPU and 512Mbyte memory).
Power control functions are included which support ACPI version 1.1.
