The Wafer-C400 is a new 3.5in CPU board that uses the ultra low voltage (ULV) Celeron 400MHz processor to minimise power consumption.

The Wafer-C400 is a new 3.5in CPU board that uses the ultra low voltage (ULV) Celeron 400MHz processor to minimise power consumption (The ULV Celeron 400 typically consumes 5W compared with 23W for the standard Celeron 400)

The Celeron processor works with the Via VT8601T north bridge and VIA VT82C686B south bridge chipsets.

The VT8601T includes an integrated AGP 4X graphics engine and the board supports a 24bit LCD interface (with 50-pin connector) and a DB-15 CRT interface connector.

In addition the Wafer-C400 supports two Ethernet 10/100Mbit/s LAN ports, a Compact Flash Type II socket, an audio AC 97 codec, a watchdog timer, and a PC/104 expansion connector.

The I/O on the Wafer-C400 also includes pin headers for a selectable RS232/422/485 port, an LPT parallel port, an ATE/100 IDE channel, a floppy disk drive port, an IrDA port, and a keyboard/mouse PS/2 port.

Connectors for two USB 2.0 ports and an RS232 serial COM port are mounted next to the LAN and CRT connectors.

"We are very pleased to be able to offer the new Wafer-C400 mainboard".

"The use of the ultra low voltage Celeron processor and wide range of connectivity, storage, and display options, make it a perfect all-in-one solution for many high performance, low power embedded applications, where space is at a premium", said Nick Coxhead, Technical Director at Wordsworth Technology.
