A new line of insulation-piercing alligator clip test leads suitable for a wide range of automobile applications has been introduced by Warwick Test Supplies Designed for use with multimeters that accept safety-shrouded banana plugs, they eliminate the need for insulation stripping and significantly reduce test time

The leads can be attached to blade-shaped or threaded terminals, screw heads and bare wires and are ideal for automotive diagnostic testing, for tracking down signals through the firewall and providing access without damaging the wire or cable.

Available in four model configurations to meet a variety of test requirements including piercing wire sizes from 14 to 26AWG, the alligator clip test lead series features several needle styles including a 'row of points' configuration, which minimises insulation penetration and reduces the likelihood of wire breakage.

Other styles include a single needle for penetrating heavier cables, a bed-of-nails for small cables and a combination of bed-of-nails and single needle.

Manufactured by Pomona Electronics, the clips feature an angled, U-shaped nose for testing blade-shaped terminals, serrated teeth for gripping threaded or wire-wrapped terminals and a notched jaw for easy attachment to screw heads and bare wire or terminals.

They are available in black, red, yellow, green or blue heat resistant silicone.
