Microcontroller takes on smart radio applications
New from Xemics the XE88LC06 is a microcontroller for smart radio applications.
New from Xemics the XE88LC06 is a microcontroller for smart radio applications.
Combined with the XE1200 transceiver series the new device provides a short time to market solution for radio applications.
This miniature system benefits from being both low power and low cost.
The XE88LC06 system on a chip uses low power and efficient processing features, focusing them on smart radio needs.
Applications that profit from the XE88LC06 include wireless sensors, wireless monitoring, remote metering, smart toys, wireless tracking, voice over RF.
Any application that relies on batteries for its supply or transmit data over RF can use the XE88LC06 capabilities.
The XE88LC06 operates from 2.4 to 5.5V with a constant current requirement (300uA/MIPS).
It includes an 8-22bit microcontroller with single-clock-cycle multiplication, 22Kbyte of MTP Flash memory, 520byte of RAM, counters, UART, numerous I/Os and PWM.
Additionally, four low-power comparators are available for detecting external signal or doing simple A/D conversions.
Asynchronous digital communication can be made via the integrated 115kbaud UART or using synchronous protocol using software drivers available from Xemics website.
The XE88LC06 operates with less than 2uA in low-speed mode, making it perfect for both monitoring and battery powered devices.
The XE88LC06 directly connects to any one of the Xemics XE1200 ultra low-power radio transceiver series.
Complete development tools as well as application and software examples are available from Xemics.
The XE88LC06 is available now priced at $3.64 in 1000-off TQFP32 packaging.
A complete toolset is available from Xemics and third parties for the XE8000 series, including CoolRIDE (C-compiler, assembler, editor, linker, debugger and simulator) and the ProStart (combined programmer and starter-kit).
