Microcontroller takes on smart radio applications
New from Xemics the XE88LC06 is a microcontroller for smart radio applications.
Reference designs and development platforms are available for designers to easily build ultra-low-power, cost-effective Bluetooth enabled products.
Xemics' XE1400 series is manufactured using a 0.18 micron complementary metal oxide semiconductor (CMOS) process that is ideally suited for ultra-low-power digital designs.
Skyworks' CX723x3 transceiver uses silicon germanium bipolar complementary metal oxide semiconductor (SiGe BiCMOS) process that is the optimal technology for RF devices.
This combination addresses the industry's demand for wide operating temperature ranges, ultra-low power consumption, low cost and a small footprint.
When compared with alternative solutions, the use of different semiconductor processes enables the manufacturer to benefit from greater volume production yields, superior RF and baseband performance and a reduced number of external components.
In addition, by applying state-of-the-art packaging technology such as ultra chip scale packaging (UltraCSP), the required PCB surface is almost identical when compared with known embedded solutions.
"We are delighted to team with Skyworks to enable our customers to develop and manufacture low-power Bluetooth solutions easily at competitive prices and form factors", said Alain Dantec, President and CEO of Xemics.
"Our relationship with Skyworks will enable us to deliver leading-edge ultra-low-power solutions for all types of battery-powered Bluetooth applications".
"We chose to work with Xemics due to their experience in ultra-low-power designs and leading-edge Bluetooth baseband technology", said Mohy Abdelgany, Skyworks' Vice President of RF Systems.
"Joining our two products together addresses the needs of customers looking for competitive solutions for next-generation Bluetooth devices".
