The licensing of Skyworks' Bluetooth IP will enable Xemics to provide a complete Bluetooth solution and to further enhance the radio transceivers.
Xemics's XE1400 series is manufactured using a 0.18-micron complementary metal oxide semiconductor (CMOS) process that is ideally suited for ultra-low-power digital designs.
Skyworks' SKY723x3 transceivers are manufactured through a silicon germanium (SiGe) BiCMOS process that is the optimal technology for RF devices.
"We agreed to license Skyworks' radio IP to better serve our client's needs to apply the world's lowest power Bluetooth solution at even more competitive prices", said Alain Dantec, President and CEO of Xemics.
"Thanks to our close relationship with Skyworks, this technology licence will now enable us to address new applications and deliver leading-edge ultra-low-power solutions, for all types of battery-powered Bluetooth applications".
