Multiple-voltage supervisors save space
New ranges of dual and triple low-voltage supervisors with and without embedded memory provide designers with complete flexibility to implement system management functions.
Xicor's new ranges of dual and triple low-voltage supervisors with and without embedded memory provide designers with complete flexibility to implement system management functions in a reduced board space and at a lower cost Offering flexibility, the supervisors integrate power-on-reset, watchdog timer, and two or three low voltage sensors in a single device, reducing overall component count and design costs

Reference design makes for powerful basestations
Xicor has teamed up with Motorola to provide radio-frequency power amplifier (RFPA) reference platforms for GSM, Edge and W-CDMA cellular basestation applications.
Comprising eight devices, the dual supervisor family includes additional feature options such as 1% accuracy voltage monitors, two separate reset outputs and a fault detection register that enables improved overall system reliability and performance.
The products are ideal for advanced computing and communication applications, audio and video systems, industrial controls and portable instrumentation that typically operate on multiple supply voltages.
A key differentiating feature of the four-strong triple supervisor range is their ability to independently monitor two separate low voltages even if the supply voltage Vcc is off.

Clocks take memory and more onboard
Xicor has a three-member family of real time clock products that combine advanced real time clock/calendar, high density embedded EEPROM and advanced system management building block functions.
As the voltage monitors are independent, the device offers a fault detection register that reports the failure of either voltage or the occurrence of a watchdog time-out or manual reset.
This fault monitoring can be very important for tracking system reliability and establishing more reliable and flexible reset recovery mechanisms.
The triple supervisors include 1% accurate voltage monitors, three separate reset outputs, a fault detection register, and manual reset that enables improved overall system reliability and performance.
These devices are ideal for advanced computing and communication applications such as routers, LAN switches, servers and storage area networks (SAN).
All the supervisors provide the user with the flexibility to select the low voltage reset trip points for the independent low voltage monitors contained in each device, that are independently programmable from 0.9 to 4.75V.
With threshold voltages as low as 0.9V, these devices can monitor the latest high performance processor core voltages, which can be as low as 1V.
The supervisors are ideal for systems that contain CPUs, DSPs, RISC processors and embedded controllers from Intel, AMD, TI, Motorola and other major suppliers.
Besides monitoring the processor and controller supplies, the supervisors can monitor voltage references and sources for GTL+, SSTL-2V, SSTL-1V, DDR-SDRAM, Rambus and other bus termination voltages as low as 0.9V.
Featuring user-programmable power on reset times of 50, 200, 400 or 800ms, all the supervisors provide watchdog time-out selection intervals of 25ms, 200ms, and 1.4s.
These functions provide system designers with adequate flexibility to tailor device parameters to meet their exact system requirements.
The 4K EEPROM is integrated in the X40410, X40411, X40414, and X40415 dual devices, and in the X40434 and X40435 triples.
These products include Xicor's Block Lock feature that provides memory protection and security.
All products communicate through the industry standard 400kHz two-wire serial interface.
The dual supervisors are available in 8-pin SOIC or 8pin TSSOP, and the triple supervisors come in 14-pin SOIC or 14-pin TSSOP packages.
With the new dual- and triple-voltage devices, Xicor now has the most comprehensive multivoltage supervisor offering in the market.
Particularly, the devices' integrated functions are fundamental to simplifying customers' complex multivoltage embedded system designs.
