XP has joined forces with a new company formed by the merger of Zicon Electronics and Power Generics, two innovative UK power supply companies.

The new company, named XP Electronics, combines the manufacturing flexibility of Zicon, with the bespoke power system design capabilities of Power Generics, and it will capitalise on XP's proven brand, marketing, customer service an sales experience.

Zicon and Power Generics were both founded over 10 years ago in Hertfordshire, by veterans of the power industry.

Zicon, explains founder MD John Shanley, offers a range of modular power supplies covering the 200 to 1000W market.

"We offer a service as much as a product", he comments, " and can deliver products on a very short leadtime".

In contrast, Bob Lish, who founded Power Generics, adds: "We have specialised in full custom power designs, and have produced supplies from 0.5W to 5kW and from 1V to 5kV".

Shanley and Lish both agree that the two companies complement each other perfectly.

XP Chairman James Peters comments that the deal between the newly formed XP Electronics and XP will give the former instant market penetration and recognition.

He adds: "For XP it means that for the first time we will be able to offer our customers access to our own full custom design and manufacturing facility here in the UK.

It is a continuation of our virtual manufacturing philosophy, which means that although we do not own any manufacturing sites, we have strong, formalised links with world-class manufacturing partners".
