A new range of single-output 500-600W AC/DC power supplies features a power density of 0.42W/cm3.

XP has a new range of single-output 500-600W AC/DC power supplies that feature a power density of 0.42W/cm3 This makes them the smallest units in their class and offers designers the opportunity to make 25% space savings

The SMQ500/600 power supplies measure 233 x 108 x 63.5mm and feature peak load ratings of twice their nominal output.

This means that where high-level, peak loads of short duration are encountered it is not necessary to employ a more highly rated, larger and more expensive power solution to handle these.

The SMQ500/600 uses a front-end boost convertor to provide universal AC input with power factor correction to EN61000-3-2.

There are models with outputs from 3.3 to 54V with peak load ratings of up to 216% for 1ms duration at 5% duty cycle.

A battery charging option allows the output voltage to be adjusted so that the power supply can be used as a low-cost charger.

Standard output voltage adjustment is +/-5%, line and load regulation are +/-0.5 and +/-1%, respectively, and integral protection is provided for overcurrent, overvoltage, undervoltage and overtemperature, along with a DC-OK signal.

Remote sensing compensates for up to 0.5V voltage drop.

The operating temperature range is from 0 to +70C ambient and cooling is achieved using an internal fan.

The SMQ500/600 is a low cost, general-purpose power supply designed for use in instrumentation, automation, process control, test equipment, displays and printing applications.

It meets all major international safety and EMC regulatory requirements.
